Just over 20 years ago, Bairisch Diatonischer Jodelwahnsinn (Bavarian Diatonic Yodelling Madness) were the rebels of folk music. With a new violin player and after 10 years’ absence from the stage, the trio is back now, showing that many things have remained the same: their texts are still cheeky and subversive, their music is versatile. Apart from the Bavarian stanza song tradition and Zwiefacher dances, “Wahnsinn” still enjoys excursions into blues, rap, rock and classics.
