“They’re crazy, those Finns”: Eläkeläiset plays well-known chart hits from rock, pop, and metal in “humppa”—that is, polka style. In the process, the musicians put bass, accordion, drums, and keyboard through their paces at breathtaking speed. Unusual instruments like chainsaws and even shotguns sometimes make an appearance. The songs are performed in Finnish, which always leads to great guessing games at concerts about which original song lies behind each humppa version.
