Ladysmith Black Mambazo (ZAF)
If there is a nursery for world music, it must be the Ovations Studios in Johannesburg. Ladysmith Black Mambazo collaborated on Paul Simon’s album “Graceland”. The powerful voices of this glee club which rose like a phoenix from the ashes of traditional glee club competitions, accompanied Nelson Mandela both at the reception for the Nobel Peace Prize and when he was sworn in as president. Some say that their voices help to heal in a sick world.
